Snapnote – User guide

This guide describes the functions, buttons, and menus that are currently available in Snapnote.

📌 Overview

Snapnote is organized around categories and notes. On the front page you mainly work with the circles, and on the notes page you work with a combined list of all your notes. The app is designed for both mobile and desktop, and the main actions are available as clear buttons at the top and bottom.

🔐 Sign in and account

  • On the login page you can sign in, create a user, and use “Forgot password”.
  • The selected language is stored and reused the next time you open the app.
  • Under Settings you can change your name, email address, password, and preferred language.
  • Your notes and categories belong to your own user account.

🏠 Front page and circles

  • At the top you see a back button, a home button, and a bell for overdue notes.
  • On the top level you can also use the “Show all” button to reveal more categories.
  • The center circle shows the current focus. The outer circles show categories or most-used paths.
  • Tap an outer circle once to open that category level.
  • Long-press an outer circle to open the note dialog directly for that category.
  • Double-tap an outer circle to quick-save an empty note with today’s date as an all-day note.
  • The front page uses circles instead of a regular grid, so navigation happens visually.

📱 Bottom menu and menus

  • The bottom menu contains Home, Search, Note, Print, and Settings.
  • Search opens the search view and the ABC panel.
  • Print opens the printable notes view.
  • Settings opens a sheet with User settings, Category editor, User guide, and Log out.
  • If you are an administrator, extra menu items are shown for user administration, mail testing, and the error log.

📝 Create a note

  1. Open the note dialog from the plus button or by long-pressing a circle.
  2. Write the note text in the text field.
  3. Select a date in the date field. You can also use the minus button on the left or the plus button on the right to move the date one day at a time.
  4. Use “All day” if the note should not have a specific time. Clear it to choose a time.
  5. Press “Save” to create the note or “Cancel” to close the dialog.

📝 Notes page

  • The notes page shows all your notes in one place and sorts them by status and deadline.
  • At the top you will find buttons for home, new note, switching between active and completed notes, and print.
  • Filter buttons can be used to show notes from one category only.
  • Each note shows its category path, note text, and deadline when available.
  • If a note is overdue, a bell is shown next to it.
  • In the note menu (the three dots) you can edit, create a calendar entry, send the note by email, mark it complete/incomplete, and delete it.
  • You can select multiple notes with the checkboxes and delete them together.

🗂️ Category editor

  • Open the Category editor from Settings.
  • There you can create, rename, move, and delete categories and subcategories.
  • You can insert default templates if you want to start from a predefined structure.
  • The plus and minus controls in the editor are used to add or remove items in the tree.
  • Save when you are done to update the full category structure.
  • Reset is used to load the default structure again.

⚙️ Good to know

  • If you use quick save from a circle, the note is created immediately without another dialog.
  • Send by email from the notes page asks for the recipient’s email address before sending.
  • The calendar function creates a calendar entry from the selected note.
  • The selected language affects both the interface and the date format.
  • The app works best with JavaScript enabled, because dialogs, sheets, and circle navigation depend on it.
  • Overdue notes are counted on the bell icon so you can jump quickly to the notes page.
